At the invitation of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata and the School of Chinese Languages in Kolkata, Ms. Yang Lin, the director of the Office of Recruitment and Employment, and Ms. Ren Ting, the staff of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation went to Kolkata to attend 2018 EXPO Higher Education in China from 9th May to 13th May. This educational exhibition was held at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre. More than 60 universities and colleges attend the exhibition, and more than 5,000 people, including teachers, students, parents came to visit.
Speech by Consul-General Ma Zhanwu
At 9 a.m. on the 10th May, Ma Zhanwu,the Consul-General of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata, Achyuta Smanta, the Member of the Federal Parliament of India, RS Shukla, the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Education of West Bengla, and more than 60 Chines universities and colleges and local students and institutions attended the opening ceremony. Consul-General Ma Zhanwu addressed the opening ceremony and delivered a welcome speech. He said that that both China and India are great countries with a long history and they have all produced many great educators. Education is very important for both China and India. Education exchange is an important part of the China-India relations, expecially the humanities exchanges between the two countries. In particular, he pointed out that this exhibition is one of the specific measures to implement the consensus on strengthening cultural exchange mentioned between the Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Modi in Wuhan.

During the two days of the exhibition, two staff of our university warmly received more than 800 teachers and students, parents and people from local universities and colleges. They introduced the school situation, major settings, international students programs, fees, and scholarships for international students.They carefully answered various consultation questions for participating students and parents. Some Indian students , and universities and colleges expressed their desire to study in our university and their cooperation intentions.
